Background information
The first volume of the book series 'Photo-Galerie. Die Bibliothek berühmter Photographen und ihrer besten Bilder' (The library of famous photographers and their best pictures) is dedicated to the work of Jacques-Henri LARTIGUE, whose early sports photographs represent the fascination of an era, the Belle Epoque, for speed.Content
'Photo-Galerie, Band 1. Jacques-Henri Lartigue' contains forty-two black and white photographs from the years 1920 to 1931, each reproduced on a double page on the right-hand side. Thematically, the photographs, all of which are private, deal with the family's life in France, often also in Paris and in Biarritz. The volume also contains photographs of sporting events from 1907 onwards, mainly car races.
