It is open to promising photographers or artists who use photographic genres and techniques and whose work has already been the subject of exhibitions and publications. They are recommended by a recognized professional in the fields of photography, contemporary art, film, fashion, journalism or publishing.

This publication, 'Prix Elysée. Édition 2016-2018', consisting of eight thread-bound individual issues, features the previously unpublished projects of eight nominees: 'The True Truth's Stories' by Isabelle BLANC and Olivier HILAIRE, a collection of photographic short stories; the making of images based on 'scores,' the preparations for actions of the Fluxus movement in the 1960s and 1970s, by Elina BROTHERUS; a long-term photographic project by Matthias BRUGGMANN on the conflict in Syria; 'Limbo' by David JIMÉNEZ, which plays with the limits of perception; 'Tales' by Sofie KNIJFF, which explores the influence of fairy tales and their meaning in different contemporary cultures; 'As We Recede' by Emeka OKEREKE, who explores the history and hypotheses of the Biafra war in Nigeria in a multimedia project of photography, video and sound; and last but not least, 'Nature Stories' by Zhao RENHUI, a photographic exploration of the different ideas we have about nature.
