Background information
"Guido GUIDI and Gerry JOHANSSON - two grand masters, of the analog photographic tradition of the 20th/21st century - photographed in Castelfranco and surroundings in 2019 as part of the OMNE Project's "Verso Nord" photographic campaign.
Content
Guido GUIDI focused his attention on the historic center of this small town located in the Veneto. He focused on the historical buildings to capture traces of history and time with his detailed photographs. He worked with his large-format camera (8×10") and and used its technical possibilities to shift the image plane or angle of view as a tool to interrogate photographic reality and the codes inherent in photography.
Gerry JOHANSSON moved more in the vast suburbs, where architecture, nature, houses and space have evolved into random, typical of the Veneto, areas, in transition between landscape and city - areas that often bear random to enigmatic features. Gerry Er extracts the essence of the places and situations found during extended, slow car rides and walks with his images taken in traditional, analog black and white medium format technique.
