Background information
"In 1927, the Universal-Edition published the libretto to the opera buffa 'Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren', the setting being Madame Angèle’s photo studio. Kurt Weill composed the music, the text is by Georg Kaiser. In a highly limited edition - only 135 numbered copies - the volume 'Nun stirbt der Traum Paris' looks at the stage settings of various productions and thereby traces a small history of the photo studio. Surprisingly, the sets go back further and further into the 19th century in chronological inversion.Content
The artistically designed book 'Nun stirbt der Traum Paris' makes the various phases vivid with stage designs, historical photographs, reviews, posters and brochures. Kerstin Stremmel’s text (in German!) provides a well-researched overview of the multifaceted stage affairs." (© Total Verlag, 2021)
