Background information
"The predominant color in the photo book 'Orange' by Orhan PAMUK was eponymous. When the Nobel Prize winner for literature has finished his daily paperwork, he takes his camera and wanders through the various quarters of his hometown Istanbul. He often explores the secluded alleyways where tourists don't get lost , Places that seem neglected and forgotten, bathed in a very specific light. It is the orange light from street lamps and from houses that Orhan PAMUK knows so well from his childhood in Istanbul. But the familiar, warm light disappears. Modern, cheap Illuminants have arrived and at night it shines increasingly icy-white from the windows. The lights of the night have changed as creeping and almost imperceptibly as the social structures of the whole city.
