About the Turkish photographer, Orhan PAMUK (b.1952, in Istanbul)

Orhan PAMUK is a writer and artist, awarded the 2006 Nobel Prize for Literature. As he describes in his autobiographical volume of essays, 'Istanbul', he took photos in the streets of his hometown in the 1960s and 1970s in order to develop templates for his paintings. The 'Museum of Innocence' is both a novel and a real museum that he opened in Istanbul in 2012. It shows objects, images and photographs that are dealt with in the novel. It won the 'European Museum of the Year Award' in 2014.
