Background information
"The photo volume 'Hibi' by Masahisa FUKASE includes street photography - but here the asphalt directed look is meant. In 1992 painted the Japanese photographer, who has made the wonderful series 'Solitude of Ravens' painted a serie of metropolitan pavement for an exhibition in brightly colors, often refering on the asphalt structures.
Content
The book 'Hibi' by Masahisa FUKASE forms each of these 'paintings' on two following pages and give us, after 1992, a second chance for a view of the 'used' battered asphalt, as we could also watch him every day AND 2nd on the traces Masahisa FUKASE has left as a painter (and on some images as a visible shadow. -> Lee FRIEDLANDER). The result is a book that once again emerges out from the wealth of new releases - it should be noted that the German photographer Andreas TROGISCH in 2010 with 'Asphalt' and 2015 'Runway' also published two black and white publications in small editions on this subject. Both titles are still available at Café Lehmitz Photobooks on request." (© Richard G. SPORLEDER)
