Background information

"What devices are used to communicate ideas? Where are images located? A selection of eight of Joan FONTCUBERTA's most important projects confronts us with these questions. 'Herbarium', 'Fauna', 'Sputnik', 'Securitas', 'Pin Zhuang', 'Miracles', 'Deconstructing Osama' and 'Trepat' engage in an artistic investigation between 1984 and 2014 that is rightly seen as problematizing the 'regime of truth' in photography. However, this time the selection criterion of the curator Sema D'Acosta adds an original perspective: the contrast in Joan FONTCUBERTA's works between the distribution in space (exhibitions, installations) and the layout on the page (photobooks, signature books).
