Zen Foto Book, Vol. 7.
"Invited by Ihee KIMURA in January 1973, Kazuo KITAI joined the trip to China in April. In 1973 Communism was in its 24th years and the Cultural Revolution in its seventh year.
During the journey, though KITAI was not able to visit the Anshan, where he was born, he was searching for an image within the landscape that would contain a memory of his infanthood.
As KITAI said, 'for me photography was a way of recreating lost childhood experience'." (publisher's note, © Zen Gallery, 2010)
