Background information, content
"The oeuvre by Rinko KAWAUCHI has been widely praised for its nuanced color scheme and sleepwalking mastery of composition as well as the ability to be attentive to small gestures and random details of the everyday environment. In 'Illuminance' she continues her exploration of the peculiar in everyday life, magically attracted to the fundamental cycles of life and the seemingly unintentional, fractal-like order of nature into formal structures. Presented in a precious linen binding with Japan binding, this impressive compilation of mostly unpublished images once again proves Rinko KAWAUCHI's unique sensibility and unabated appeal to anyone who loves photography. It is her first book that appears outside of Japan." (publisher's note, © Kehrer Verlag, 2011)
