"The booklet 'By the Sea is a collection of landscape photos along the Sea of Japan. I made several trips to the region in winter. Weather is harsh there but such weather makes the color of the Sea of Japan's coastal landscaper deeply beautiful." (© Yasuhiro OGAWA)

"This photo booklet - a narrow and large one - 'By the Sea' houses a collection of landscape photos that the Japanese photographer Yasuhiro OGAWA took during various stays on the Japanese coast in winter.
After the black-and-white works that we got to know in 'Shimagatari' and most recently in 'The Dreaming', the color photos in 'By the Sea' surprised me positively and expanded my picture of this photographer, who previously worked for me for the Japanese black-and-white photography according to Issei SUDA.His works are less colorful than Mika NINAGAWA's photographs and more powerful than Koji ONAKA's landscape photographs."
