Background information
"Candida HÖFER understands the term 'projects' as multi-part works that have a planned, additional sequence or are completed when a definitive state is reached. 'Projects Done' refers to fourteen completed projects from the years 1968 to 2008. The fifteenth is the presentation itself, which the artist developed with the architects Kuehn Malvezzi.
Content
In the out-of-print photo volume 'Projects Done', Candida HÖFER shows her works in unusual formats: Small-format views of the series 'Zoological Gardens' (1993), 'The Citizens of Calais' (2000) or 'On Kawara' (2006/07), similar to a catalog raisonné, or large-format images such as 'Turks in Germany' (1979) and the slide project '80 Pictures', which are shown with a black background on the pages of the book. The photographer collaged eight pages of 'Flipper' with black and white images of pinball machines. Liverpool', an early work from 1968, shows calm full-page black and white photographs. Another focus is on her pictures of exhibition spaces created by the architects Kuehn Malvezzi." (© Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, 2010)
