Background information
"Tobias ZIELONY (*1973) was one of the most remarkable young photographers of the present day. Questions of overt and latent violence are just as central to his work as the examination of forms of contemporary development of (youth) revolt. He was less interested in documenting the living conditions of young people than in their self-presentations. It is 'this completely incidental form of the social' that he has impressively portrayed in his work.

The photo volume 'Story / No Story' by Tobias ZIELONY provides an overview of his work since 2000, which has mainly been taken in social hotspots such as 'Knowle West' in Bristol, the prefabricated housing estates in Halle-Neustadt, the 'Quartiers Nord' in Marseille or in South Los Angeles. His current project from Winnipeg, Canada, is also presented, where he portrays street and prison gangs with Indian roots and has also made a haunting film about a former gang leader."
