Background information
Brazilian photographer Sebastião SALGADO takes us to the icebergs of Antarctica, the volcanoes of Central Africa and the Kamchatka Peninsula, the rivers Negro and Juruá in the Amazon region, the canyons of the Grand Canyon and the glaciers of Alaska. All the time, energy and passion that went into the creation of this work make 'Genesis' Sebastião SALGADO's 'declaration of love to our planet'
Content
The photo volume 'Genesis' by Sebastião SALGADO takes us to the archaic volcanic landscape of the Gala Pagos Islands, shows us cormorants, penguins and whales in the Antarctic and the South Atlantic, the alligators and jaguars of the Brazilian jungle and the big game of Africa. We meet the isolated Zo'é people in the Brazilian jungle, the Korowai in West Papua, the nomadic Dinka people in Sudan, the Nenets with their reindeer herds in the Arctic Circle and the inhabitants of the Mentawai Islands to the west of Sumatra.
The impressive black and white images from the 'Genesis' project are divided geographically into five chapters: South of the Planet, Refuges, Africa, Northern Expanses, Amazonia and Pantanal.
