Background information, content
"The images of prominent British photographer Michael KENNA have long inspired words such as mysterious, elegant and hauntingly beautiful - adjectives that equally describe the Japanese landscape. The photographs in his monograph "Japan" are the result of an ideal pairing of artist and subject. He has had a large following in Japan since his first exhibition there in 1987. His many subsequent exhibitions and publications in Japan have provided him with numerous opportunities to visit and photograph Japan. In recent years, as this project began to take shape, his travels became more frequent and intense. The resulting images in this volume are breathtaking. Superbly printed in Triton, the volume is hardbound in red cloth and presented in a Japanese folding slipcase.
