About German historian of photography, Kathrin Schönegg

Kathrin Schönegg is currently head the photography collection at the Münchner Stadtmuseum. She holds a PhD in art and media studies from the University of Konstanz and is educated as a museum curator for photography. She is the recipient of the Thomas Friedrich Grant in Photography at the Berlinische Galerie (2017), the DGPh History of Photography Research Award of the German Photographic Association (2018), and the Exhibition Research and Production Fellowship by Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles (2019). From 2019-2023 she was co-head of program and curator at C/O Berlin. Her fascination ranges from pre- to postphotography. It is her global interest to confront and to connect early media theories with the digital environments of our days.
