Background information
"Half a century of photographic artistic creation: this book on the occasion of Timm RAUTERT's 80th birthday pays tribute to one of the most important contemporary German photographers. It presents Timm RAUTERT's diverse photographic oeuvre: From his experimental beginnings as a student with Otto STEINERT at the then Folkwangschule in Essen-Werden in the late 1960s, the methodological research of his 'Bildanalytische Photographie' in the mid-1970s, his freelance work as a pictorial storyteller with his congenial partner Michael Holzach for ZEITmagazin, his turning away from journalism in the early 1990s to the long-term documentation of the changes in the world of work in the course of industrial automation, up to his artistic theoretical image formations, which were created during his teaching activities from 1993-2008 at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts.
Content
'Timm Rautert and the Lives of Photography' is probably the most comprehensive publication on the photographer's work, with extensive series of images, some of which are unknown, six essays, and an annotated biography." (© Steidl Verlag, 2021)
