Background information
"Photography in books has been of central importance for the transmission of a visual culture ever since the invention of camera art in the 19th century. Although its digital and analog presence has increased in recent years, essential systematic questions about the photobook as an artistic medium have been little addressed. This anthology edited by Burcu Dogramaci, Desirée Dödder, Stephanie Durfhues, Maria Schindelegger as well as Anna Vola, 'Gedruckt und erblättert. Das Fotobuch als Medium ästhetischer Artikulation aseiit den 1940er Jahren' (The photobook as a medium of aesthetic articulation since the 1940s) closes this gap.
