About the Austrian writer, publisher and photographer Michael HOROWITZ (*1950 in Vienna)

Michael HOROWITZ is the author of more than 20 books, including biographies of Heimito von Doderer, Egon Erwin Kisch, Karl Kraus, as well as his friends H. C. Artmann, Otto Schenk and Helmut Qualtinger. He began taking photographs during his high school years. On the occasion of the Expo 2000 he presented together with Franz Hubmann the people photo documentation in the Austria pavilion. His photos were shown in various domestic and foreign galleries, including in Vienna, in Salzburg during the Salzburg Festival and in Graz during the 'steirischer herbst'. In 2016 in the exhibition 'Horowitz. 50 Years of Images of Man' at the Jewish Museum Vienna. From February to April, and from June to September 2020, the photographic life's work of Michael HOROWITZ was shown at the Albertina in Vienna. He received several Austrian awards, including the Grand Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria, the Medal of Honor of the Federal Capital Vienna in Gold, the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna, and the Cross of Honor for Science and Art I. Class.
