Background information
"Since the mid-1990s, Bert TEUNISSEN has been on the road photographing the landscape. Always in the same way: Shot from behind the wheel while driving. For the photographs in the publication, 'On the Road. Everglades,' he used an Olympus Pen - the legendary half-frame camera from the 1960s and 1970s. All photographs were printed on expired photographic paper, creating different colors and contrasts that make each print unique and impossible to recreate. For the Dutch photographer, this irreversible process is part of his quest to capture the fluid state of mind while traveling." (freely translated, © Fw: books, 2017)
The images were also featured in 'Imaging Eden. Photographers discover the Everglades' exhibition in Florida, which featured contemporary photographs by U.S. photographers such as Jim GOLDBERG, Gerald SLOTA, and Jordan STEIN, as well as photographs by Korean photographer Jungjin LEE - published in the eponymous publication 'Everglades', which was also available from Café Lehmitz Photobooks and is now highly sought after.
