Background information
"Published in 1986 and titled 'Beyond Caring,' British photographer Paul GRAHAM's book of photographs is now considered one of the key works of British New Color photography, which gained momentum in the 1980s. While commissioned to photographically describe his view of 'Britain 1984', Paul GRAHAM turned his attention to waiting rooms, queues and poor conditions of overburdened social security and unemployment offices across the UK. His surreptitiously used camera witnesses and protagonists a bureaucratic system that points to the humiliation and indignity of the weakest section of society.
