Background information
"The significance and mutual influences between painting and photography in the perception of landscape are the focus of the catalog volume 'Nature as Art. Landscape in the 19th Century in Painting and Photography'. In analogy to the already existing catalog of paintings, this publication focuses on a selection of 100 photographs from the collection of the Stadtmuseum München. There are more than 500 original studies by artists, which originated or were made as 'études d'après nature' by important German, French, English or Italian photographers from the period between 1850 and 1890.
