Background information
The relatively small photo volume 'Latvia, Spain' by Japanese photographer Koji ONAKA describes in documentary style his view of the two European countries Latvia and Spain. It is volume #3 of the series 'Europe Today 2004-2005 with a total of 14 individual volumes.
Content
The color photographs in Koji ONAKA's photo book 'Latvia, Spain' are from 2004 and have the typical flaneur-like aesthetic of his other photo books, most of which he has self-published. Koji ONAKA is interested in the outlying areas, which he explores on foot. Since the photographs are mainly landscapes (also called man-altered landscapes), we do not encounter any inhabitants in the thirty or so color photographs - it is the photographer's typical view of the countries in each case that makes up the 'In-Between' series.
