"The fourth photo book in a very small edition by Alexander FRÖDE was recently published by a small French publishing house, called Editions Infinies.
The photo book 'Absence of Ordinary' shows a series of 80 photographs taken in the urban environment of different European countries. Whether it's recorded in France, Belgium, Germany or Switzerland does not really play a crucial role. To say it freely after Dieter HACKER: every photo has its justification and his documentary value.
But only in this hand-worked form, with beautiful details, such as the hand-printed cover inside, the Belgian thread binding or the Japanese binding to the material used 'Absence of Ordinary' to a small artwork with very personal character." (© Richard G. SPORLEDER)
"Alexander FRÖDE studies the nooks of the urban periphery base.
His eyes analyze, isolate, fragment meticulously them to extract from it their poetic substance. What he gaves us to see, at first glance, are spaces, architectures, insignificant or abandoned things that take place everywhere but that nobody cares.
But here, breaches, bridges and safety stairs become invitations to visit the backstages of the city. Trough this labyrinth of uniformity, he manage to create privacy where human seems to have no place and so, he sublimes its sadness and banality." (publisher's note, © Editions Infinies, 2019)
