"An honest and unvarnished insight into American everyday life.
Just LOOMIS' first photographs were taken in the 1970s between the railroad tracks and casinos of his birthplace, Reno,
telling of life in this city in the American West.
Helmut NEWTON's former assistant and friend worked as a fashion photographer for magazines such as 'Harper's Bazaar' and 'The New York Times Magazine' in the 1980s,
but devoted himself to portrait and documentary photography in subsequent years.
His pictures give an honest and unvarnished insight into American everyday life: a waitress behind the counter of a fast food restaurant in Hollywood,
a young couple full of hope and children in moments of transition.
'He understands her because he is one of them [...]. These pictures are without any artifice. So, for me, they are a perfect example of today's Americana,' said June Newton." (publisher's text, © Hatje Cantz, 2010)
