About Swiss photographer, Jakob TUGGENER (1904-1988)
Jakob TUGGENER was a photographer, filmmaker and painter. On the major themes of his photographic work - work in the factory, simple country life and glamorous celebrations of the better society - he composed ready-to-print book maquettes, but a publisher was only found for Fabrik. The Swiss Footgraf was presented by Otto STEINERT and - mediated by Robert FRANK - by Edward STEICHEN. He left behind an immense, practically untouched life's work: over 60 book maquettes, thousands of exhibition photographs and work prints, hundreds of color slides, drawings, watercolors, oil paintings and over twenty silent films, to which an extensive book case was dedicated in 2018.
