Background information
"In the mid-2010s, a generation of photographers from South Korea that can rightly be described as pioneers caused a sensation in the global photo scene. Since the late 1980s, the fine arts there have seen enormous growth against the background of the rapid economic upswing.
Content
The 77 photographers presented by this volume, 'Contemporary Korean Photography', which unfortunately only appeared in English, observe the social and cultural changes in Korea from their very own perspective and capture them with intensive portraits, beautiful landscapes and selected cityscapes , Everyday scenes or digitally created places and times. The 'Contemporary Korean Photography' compendium published by Suejin SHIN is characterized by a fascinating diversity: the meditative black and white nature studies by Bae BIEN-U stand in stark contrast to the pseudo-American plastic world of Sung SOO KOO, the psychologizing, intense portraits by Soon-Choel BYUN answer to Lee Sang HYUN and his brightly colored, ironic quotes from Korean history."
