"Jorinde is the young mother of her six-month-old daughter Annabel. They live their own lives in seclusion. Ellen Korth put their lives on screen with photos and reproductions of paintings of Madonna and Child from the Renaissance.
The title refers to a story by the Brothers Grimm, 'Jorinde and joringel', but the story in this book leaves much open, with a careful handling of privacy. Ellen Korth herself describes 'Jorinde' as "a surreal game of deception, of show, hiding and rescue."
The bibliophile book 'Jorinde' is a typical Ellen KORTH approach: a combination of photography, text and painting in one book that is packed with traditional elements. With the input of designer Sybren (SYB) KUIPER she has created a bibliophile edition in small numbers." (© Richard G. SPORLEDER)
