Until the fall of the Berlin Wall, soldiers from the Soviet protective power were stationed in the former GDR. During their time in Germany, they lived in military barracks, the interiors of which are shown in Brandenburg, Potsdam, Leipzig, Neuruppin, Berlin, Wünsdorf and others.
In his debut volume, 'Fotografien 1991 1995', Laurenz BERGES, who completed his photography studies in 1995 as a master student of Bernd BECHER, shows the situation that emerged after the fall of the Wall: mostly clean-swept rooms that the photographer documented in daylight and in color. Laurenz BERGES knows how to show what is absent in such a way that life returns to the rooms.
