Personal statement of the photographer Conny HÖFLICH, content
"In the beginning there was a believed farewell: I lived with my family in Berlin, had just finished my photography studies and wanted to tell about other people's lives through pictures. Then it happened that we were to go abroad for several years. In preparation for our departure, I began to photograph our lives in Berlin. We didn't go after all, but in the meantime I had found joy in this task. The topics 'own life' and 'farewell' became in time 'childhood' and the pictures this book." (Conny HÖFLICH)
Book review
"I like the seriousness and melancholy of these shots and the sequence that gives a very nice rhythm. Childhood is just not only a period of life, it is also a parallel world to which we adults unfortunately no longer have direct access. The images also tell us about this in their ambivalence of closeness and distance." (Peter Oehlmann)
