Statement by the photographer, Michael WOLF
"In forty to fifty years, Hong Kong will have completely changed and overwritten, then you have these extensive, visual records and you'll know very well what those 'Back Alleys' looked like. That's the wonderful thing about photography, it's the best way to document something." (© Michael WOLF)
Background information
"Michael WOLF's 'Hong Kong Lost Laundry' will be his last band on the Back Alleys of Hong Kong. His approach is that of a chronicler and collector: since 2003, Michael WOLF he created a visual encyclopedia of the Back Alleys of Hong Kong, photographing the artful installations of mops, gloves, chairs and lost laundry created out of lack of space and economic necessity. The photographer Michael WOLF encounters these temporary arrangements with interest and subtle humor.
