Background information
There are countless illustrated books on the city, but rarely with a sharp focus on the current Cologne.
The metropolis on the Rhine and its architecture are constantly evolving over its history, which is uniquely long in Germany and always very eventful. In recent years, Cologne has made a special effort to build a new image: Interested people recognize that it is succeeding better and better and that the rather modest reputation of past reconstruction periods is slowly but steadily fading away. Careful restoration work has been carried out and the new has been cautiously combined with the old.
