"'Berlin seen through the eyes of the Americans', wrote the berlin Newspapers in the spring of 1958, on the occasion of an exhibition of photography at the Amerika-Haus. In none of the many photo-volumes on Berlin which have lately appeared is our citywith its inhabitants portrayed with equal originality and as characteristically as in the photographs contained in this book.

The present volume 'Berlin und die Berliner. Von Amerikanern gesehen' (Berlin and the Berliners. Seen by Americans) with sixty black-and-white images by Lynn MILLAR and twenty-seven by Will McBRIDE, represents a compilation of the miost telling photos exhibited at the show, supplemented by additional shots. In colourful (?) sequeence, life in East and West berlinunreels before our eyes: the light as well as the dark sides of every-day existence testify to the unquenchable vitality of this town."
