Background information
"The photo volume 'The Bird Project, 2006-2017' by Swedish photo artist Erik BERGLIN is the result of an impressive twelve-year long-term project. The Swedish photographic artist studied birds like the American ornithologist J.J. Audubon, who worked for 12 years (1827 - 1838) on his very ambitious book project, 'Birds of America'. He wanted all illustrations to be reproduced at a scale of 1: 1, making 'Birds of America' one of the largest books ever produced, with page lengths of 100 x 70 cm. Erik BERGLIN did not study birds in nature, but only in books. He printed out birds of particular interest to him on a scale of 1: 1 and pasted them into urban environments. He then pasted a total of 5000 1: 1 scale printouts of birds in a dozen cities around the world - in Reykjavik, Casablanca, Gothenburg, New York, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Stockholm, Madrid, Malmö, Buenos Aires and London.
Content
'The Bird Project, 2006-2017' by Erik BERGLIN documents this unique project. The photographs extremely glossy rendered, e.g. reminiscent of the photo book 'Karma' by Oscar MONZON. The images are effective precisely in their serial diversity.
