"Sibylle BERGEMANN has repeatedly photographed windows. Over time, the window photographs became an integral part of her body of work. In the last months of her life, she herself helped to prepare this book.

The black-and-white photographs by Sibylle BERGEMANN collected in the out-of-print book 'Fenster' (Windows) do not follow a superordinate plan; rather, they are an expression of her subjective perception. From the abundance of signs and symbols that surround us every day, the photographer selected those objects that had something to tell. In doing so, she proved to be a very precise observer: each of the photographed windows with its captured details says something about the people to whom they belong." (© Edition Braus, 2011)
