Background information
"In the photo volume 'American Pictures 1962-63' the photographic tradition and our history are always present. The voltage in the image / image ratio increases the temperature. It is as if photographer Robert FRANK was at his side in New York in the early 1960s, or when Lee FRIEDLANDER helped him on the Chicago pile fifteen years later. The spirit of Walker EVANS is present. This is true of the snapshots by Gerry JOHANSSON in the form of indoor landscapes as well as the actual ones, where he spent hours studying the light with an 8/10-inch camera to penetrate the skin of the environments he examined." Book review in Swedish
Spänningen i förhållandet bild/avbild höjer temperaturen.
