Content
This carefully and knowledgeably composed, the opulent illustrated book, ''Österreich in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren. Aufbruch in goldene Zeiten. Eine Bilderreise in die junge Alpenrepublik', edited by Walter M. Weiss, illustrates the different facets of the two decades of a new beginning and change. The more than 300 large-format pictures in expressive b/w and color images offer a broad panorama of developments in Austria: from the invasion of the armies of liberation and the first steps towards democratization to the once again full life in times of the economic miracle, from the »third man« and the »four in the Jeep «until the State Treaty in 1955 and the legendary Rolling Stones concert in Vienna ten years later. The visual foray leads from international high diplomacy in the old imperial city of Vienna to the idyllic simplicity of remote alpine villages." (freely translated text, © Emons Verlag, 2016)
