About  Japanese photographer, Kishin SHINOYAMA (篠山 紀信, 1940 -2024)

Kishin SHINOYAMA studied photography at the Faculty of Art at Nihon University. In 1961, he began working for the Light Publicity Company during his studies. He graduated from Nihon University in 1963. He was known for his countless series on actresses, including his nude photographs. He also designed a series of record sleeves. He became internationally known for his portraits of Beatles musician John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono, as well as photographs of writer Yukio Mishima, singer Momoe Yamaguchi, actress Rie Miyazawa, pianist Keith Jarrett and Kabuki actor Bando Tamasaburo. Kishin SHINOYAMA died on January 4, 2024 at the age of 83.
