SCHMÖLZ, Hugo

The photo book 'Cinemas' brings together for the first time a film of cinemas that were newly created by Hugo SCHMÖLZ and his son Karl Hugo SCHMÖLZ between 1935 and 1957, especially in the Rhineland and the Ruhr area.

At the 1937 World's Fair in Paris, Cologne was the only city in the world to be represented with its own pavilion at the Seine river, captured by Karl Hugo SCHMÖLZ. The photo book 'Cologne and the Seine' tells a forgotten episode of Franco-German history.

This catalog, published on the occasion of an auction of International Style photographs, contains many exterior and interior photos as well as furniture, an introductory text and a detailed appendix, in which all photographers and architects are named.

'Photographers A-Z' brings together photographers who have made a significant contribution to photographic culture, as well as the most important photographic volumes of the past century. The entries are illustrated with facsimiles from books & magazines.
