About German photographer Cordia SCHLEGELMILCH (b.1952, in Magdeburg)

Cordia SCHLEGELMILCH studied sociology at the Free University of Berlin from 1972-1977. In 1986/87 she trained at the 'Werkstatt für Photographie' in Berlin and spent a year as an assistant to a Berlin architectural photographer. Since 1989 she has worked as a freelance architecture, art and building photographer and sociologist. She became known in particular for her long-term sociological and photographic study of the Saxon town of Wurzen from 1990 to 1996. Cordia SCHLEGELMILCH has published over half a dozen illustrated books to date.
