About the Austrian photographer, WEEGEE/Arthur FELLER (1899-1968)
In 1938, WEEGEE was the first to receive official permission to listen in on the New York police radio live. Since then, he arrived at the scene of the crisis sometimes even before the police and made countless recordings. From the hard-boiled policeman to the loud-mouthed hoodlum, from the midnight boozer to the dancing jazzman, from the dramatic conflagration to the celebrations marking the end of the World War: WEEGEE captured all these moments in unforgettable images.
