About the South-African photographer, David GOLDBLATT (1930 - 2018)

David GOLDBLATT was a South African photographer who was known for documenting his homeland during and after apartheid. He lived in Johannesburg, where he had been working as a professional photographer since 1962 with commissioned work for advertising and magazines as well as working on free projects on the social problems of South Africa and apartheid. He also created seminal visual essays that explored various topics united by his main concern: the values with which South Africans shaped their world and their expression in their landscapes.
