Background information
London on the eve of the 2012 Summer Olympics: London's East End is in a state of limbo between destruction and reconstruction. Rubble and nameless ruins are everywhere, as well as a city in the making.
Content
The out-of-print photobook set 'Fallen Empire' by Alex BOCCHETTO & Valentina ABENAVOLI is the result of over two years (2010-2012) of documenting the ever-changing cityscape of London's East End on the eve of the 2012 Summer Olympics, a behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous capital and the heart of darkness, the frontier space with no recognizable landmarks shared by any modern metropolis.
The set consists of two landscape publications (14 x 20 cm.) and an A4 plan in a designed package. The first volume contains eighteen black and white photographs on fourteen pages, showing architectural and street scenes and Öberflächen; three second volume shows encounters and urban scenery on more than twenty black and white snapshots.
