This part of the two-volume work, 'Autopsie. Volume 1', by photo book expert Manfred HEITING presents the German-language titles of the interwar period in all their variety. The focus lies on the German-speaking countries and the period from 1918 to 1945.

'Kiosk. A History of Photojournalism 1839-1973' by Robert LEBECK & Bodo von Dewitz (ICP Infinity Award 2002) leads you in nine chapters through the eras of international photojournalism and offers an overview of the topics of past decades and centuries.

'The Dutch Photobook' deals with the recent history of the Dutch photobook. Selected titles were placed in the context of developments in photography & society on the basis of the themes of landscape, youth, travel, urbanity, and the autonomous photobook.

'Algeria' by Dirk ALVERMANN consists of political contemporary documents, quotes from French military sources, pamphlets, newspapers and magazines that once accompanied him. As facsimile, it was also part of the sought-after 'Protest Box' by Martin Parr.

SIGNED COPY. In his 2nd photo volume 'Keine Experimente', Dirk ALVERMANN takes a critical and mocking stance on the period of the economic miracle as well as the Nazi past. The b/w photographs were taken between 1956 and 1961 in Berlin and the Rhineland.

'Hello Camel' by Christoph BANGERT documents the bitter absurdity of war in Afghanistan, Gaza, Darfur, Lebanon and Iraq. He contrasts the clichéd notion of modern war as a fast-paced, dramatic and heroic event with calm and tidy, strange and alien images.
