The photo book 'Hyena Men', first published in 2007, made the South African photographer Pieter HUGO known outside the photo book scene. There is something disturbing about the images of wandering fairmen who entertain people with their animals.

The out-of-print volume 'Nein, Onkel: Snapshots From Another Front 1938-1945' contains snapshots of fun-loving, sexually inappropriate and work-shy elements of the German military machine, as well as the commonly accepted view of 'bad men in ankle boots'.

For his 'Scrapbook' with own experiences when he grew up in Belfast as the son of a mixed marriage in the 1970s and 1980s, the Irish photographer Donovan WYLIE used scrapbooks from Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to early 1990s as an inspiration.
