The peroid 1965-1975 was marked by turbulence & transformation, also in the work of Japanese photograpers like Taiji ARITA, Eikoh HOSOE, Daido MORIYAMA, Masatoshi NAITO, Hajime SAWATARI, Issei SUDA, Yoshihiro TATSUKI, Shuji TERAYAMA and Katsumi WATANABE.

'Theatre of Memory' by Eikoh HOSOE with photographs of Butoh dancers Tatsumi Hijikata (in 'Kamaitachi') as well as Kazuo Ohno ('Butterfly Dream') shows the ability to bring memories to life through the intersection of photography, dance theater & painting

In 'Eternal Chase' neither composition, exposure nor focal length are in focus, these are secondary. Tamiko NISHIMURA leaves it up to the object to show itself. In contrast to the spiritual expectation at the selection, she took a lot of time to fix it.

The photos in 'At Dusk' by Miyuki OKUYAMA give insight into her inner life and her states of mind as she moved from one culture to another. The images are inspired by fragmented childhood memories, long repressed fears, and vaguely remembered nightmares.
