Art historian Ian Jeffrey has sifted through WWII soldier albums and selected the most compelling photos to create a record of lives that have seen the unprecedented. Style & content of the photographs changed along with the collective mood after 1942.

'Men like Hitler' shows more than 100 private photos of men taken before 1945. Admittedly, the moustache on its own does not make someone a Nazi. But the men must have been known whom they resembled and owned the likeness when they looked in the mirror.

The out-of-print catalog volume 'Soviet Photography of the 1920s and 1930s' shows the great creative wealth: photographers of Pictoialism and Soviet avant-garde developed in parallel with each other until Stalinist ideology gave a direction.

'The Italian Photobook 1931-1941' by Giorgio Grillo traces the short, intense history of (photo)graphic modernism in Italy - as a medium between autonomous visual research and a 'functional' use in the often overlapping areas of advertising & propaganda.

Out-of-print book 'A George Grosz Montage. Collages 1917-1958' presents previously unpublished material, portraits by Arnold NEWMAN and Irving PENN and 4 essays (one by Klaus STAECK). The German-language book comes with a 16-page English-language booklet.

The out-of-print volume 'Half Life' by Michael ACKERMAN with images from Poland, Cuba, New York, Berlin and elsewhere, is hard to place. A hallucinated array of images of exile and of phantoms, in which places and people absorb us into the same black aura
