Content
In the photographs in the photo volume 'Metropolis. Berlin' by Barbara WOLFF are less about the classic city views, but rather a subjective view of Berlin in the present time. The black-and-white photographs tell of residents and their urban surroundings. The multi-layered photographs take the viewer on an emotional journey through the city. Patterns of the city emerge, networks of relationships between people, architecture and (artificial) nature. It is about the transformation of the city, about provocation and chaos, about secrets, but also about visions. 'Metropolis. Berlin' shows S-Bahn stations and Berlin waters, graffiti walls and full shopping malls. But the famous (empty) Berlin squares and the closed doors of techno clubs in the Corona year 2020.
