Background information
"Hans-Christian SCHINK studied photography at the University of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig. He is one of the most important representatives of contemporary landscape photography. The focus of his work is the dialogue between nature and civilization. Mostly he addresses landscapes from the People have been reshaped, but are (almost) always deserted, and his romantic imagery, influenced by romanticism, is determined by precise composition, preceded by careful observation and analysis. This book, 'Verkehrsprojekte', was published in 2004. It shows East German transport projects that serve to integrate this part of Germany into the European transport network; huge cuts were made in nature.
Content
The pictures in the photo volume 'Verkehrsprojekte' by Han-Christian SCHINK show large landscape spaces structured by concrete and steel. With the large-format camera, he created stunningly abstract, surreal construction site still lifes made of concrete, earth and greenery. The photographer's patience and compositional gaze turned everyday motifs into melancholic ciphers for the state of Germany after reunification.
Additional information
The signed and numbered collectors edition of Hans-Christian SCHINK's 'Verkehrsprojekte' comes with a C-Print (title: 'A 14 - Brücke Raderfeld') in the 40 x 50 cm format, also signed and numbered as well as inlaid in a gray fabric-covered graphic portfolio with red title embossing.
