Background information, content
"For over ten years, large-format photographer Lynn WHITNEY has documented the shores of Ohio's Lake Erie. The photographs reproduced in the photo volume 'Lake Erie' reveal a mood of diverse communities, changing landscapes and deeply rooted local history(s). Inspired by the work on Lake Erie by Frank GOHLKE, the U.S. photographer allows her particular gaze to guide her through this unique and endangered landscape; her images question what opportunities remain for our collective future and offer hope through conscious awareness.
The photo volume is rounded out by an account by Nicholas NIXON of the photographer's working methods, as well as essays by curator Robin Reisenfeld and biologist George Bullerjahn on the cultural, ecological, and geological features of the lake."
